We are a 10 acre working farm, with approximately 400 yards of Watauga River access. Access is a 5-10 minute walk from the Carriage House and includes a gazebo near the water. The fishing is great! Located in Valle Crucis, near Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, the Carriage House was used for horses on a farmstead 100 years ago. We had the most wonderful stay at the Carriage House in Valle Crucis! Carriage House looks like it could be on the cover of Southern Living or Country Home Magazine—spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable for our family of three. Exploring the property was such a joy. Our toddler loved visiting the chickens, meeting the goats (Vincent Van Gogh and Gandalf the Gray), and spotting deer right on the grounds. The short walk to the granite cliffs with sweeping views of the river and valley was simply breathtaking. We also loved how close it was to High Country attractions—our favorite being Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, and Otter Falls Trail, a beautiful, family-friendly hike that ends at a waterfall with shallow pools. This retreat truly has it all: charm, comfort, and adventure. We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend it to families or anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable mountain getaway!

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. We were in Boone to move our son into his dorm. We had everything we needed and they have an app that tells you everything you need to know about the place. Very easy to use. We didn’t need to contact them with any questions. We let one of the cats in to snuggle with while watching a movie. I wish we’d had more time to visit with the animals on the property. Perfect Airbnb stay. 5 out of 5 stars, would stay again.
